Action cameras for the people.

Creating an app for a quickly growing company.

I started working with GoPro, when it was a small pre-IPO company in 2014. The job was to create apps for Windows 8 and Xbox One to showcase featured videos created by users and sell physical products (cameras, mounts, etc.) through the app. Selling physical products through a console app was a pretty revolutionary idea that drew a great deal of excitement from the GoPro executives. At the time the GoPro design team was quite small so I worked closely with a team of designers internally to consult with GoPro on their product and branding strategy.

To adhere to this brand strategy I did extensive customization to the standard platform UI, which required me to go deep in to the boilerplate app code on the brand new Xbox One and Windows 8 app development schema.

In 2015 GoPro revisited my team to develop apps for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Amazon Fire TV. I was both the lead designer and a developer for this set of projects. Since GoPro had continued to adhere to the original brand guidelines from the Xbox One and Windows 8 project, I was able to take a number of cues from that round of design and interpret them for the newer apps while working closely with product owners to develop new features and ideas.
